Spier Hotel, on the outskirts of Stellenbosch, has reopened after a year-long closure and major renovation. The updated hotel now offers 80 rooms, reduced from the previous 160, marking a shift from its former conferencing focus to a more private and wellness-oriented stay.

The revamped property includes 68 luxury rooms, 12 suites and two three-bedroom villas expected later in the year. The redesign separates the hotel from the public farm area, providing greater privacy.

Facilities now include a wellness centre with 10 treatment rooms, Cape Herbal Bath House, yoga and Pilates spaces, and an adults-only pool. The hotel also offers two restaurants, three bars and 24-hour room service.

A key feature of the redesign is emphasis on sustainability and local sourcing. Spier continues to operate a pesticide-free food garden supplying the hotel’s kitchens. Farm trails, art installations and nature-based children’s activities are also part of the guest experience.

Spier Hotel now operates on a dynamic pricing model and no longer caters to large conferences – instead offering smaller venues for intimate events.
