Three Cities and Alphen end partnership

Effective March 31, Three Cities Group will cease trading at Cape Town’s Alphen Country House Hotel after a year’s partnership.

Director of Alphen Farm Estate, Nicky Cloete-Hopkins, confirmed that the current accommodation aspect of the hotel would be closed, as well as Cloete’s restaurant and the Boer ‘n Brit pub.

Cloete-Hopkins commented: “In light of the property’s historical significance and excellent position in the heart of Constantia, there are many potential opportunities for the redevelopment and refurbishment of the premises. The closure of the hotel also provides an opportunity to update and restore areas of the manor house, which dates back to the mid 18th century.”

The directors of Alphen Farm Estate in Constantia (Pty) Ltd, owner of the hotel premises, will conduct surveys of the buildings occupied by the hotel and will engage with potential investors and tenants on proposals received. An announcement will be made in due course once a final proposal is accepted.

Mike Lambert, CEO of Three Cities Group, said: “Three Cities Group is not currently holding any reservations for the hotel division, therefore all trading will cease at the end of March. We wish Alphen Farm Estate all of the best with the redevelopment of their property.”
