Collaboration and openness between SA Tourism and the industry were two of the key messages that came through when new SA Tourism CEO, Sisa Ntshona, engaged the tourism industry during a webinar hosted by Tourism Update on Thursday.
Ntshona said he wants to encourage constant communication with the industry to make sure the trade is aware of the SA Tourism’s direction. More importantly Ntshona want industry to be part of the discussion that informs SA Tourism’s approaches and strategy. He said that open sourcing ideas and also sharing insights and intelligence will become key in SA Tourism’s collaboration efforts. Industry will be able to pull the organisation’s information and insights to form part of their own organisational strategy.
Ntshona added that he, along with the SA Tourism exco team, will be a lot more accessible. The team will also have a presence at the association meetings to drive this engagement. This has already started with SA Tourism’s leadership, including Ntshona, attending the most recent Satsa meeting.
“We do want to become an organisation that is responsive, that actually listens and engages. I encourage people to hold us accountable and be constructive, give us ideas.”
