Kenya’s National Rhino Conservation and Management Action Plan has successfully translocated 10 southern white rhinos to Loisaba Conservancy in Laikipia.
The 10-day operation was carried out by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) in collaboration with Loisaba Conservancy and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy with support from Sharjah Safari. The rhinos were moved from Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Meru National Park, under KWS oversight, using advanced immobilisation and capture techniques.
Southern white rhinos are not native to Kenya but the country is home to the third-largest population globally after South Africa and Namibia.
