Wilderness has announced the launch of The Sanctuary at Wilderness Mombo – a new wellness destination located in Botswana’s Okavango Delta.
Facilities include a lap pool, traditional sauna with ice bath, treatment rooms and a couple’s suite, meditation cocoons, an air-conditioned gym and an open-air yoga deck. A deli and juice bar and a Remedy Bar inspired by traditional healing practices complete the offering, featuring local botanicals such as wild sage, indigo dye bush and jackalberry fruit.
Treatments incorporate indigenous knowledge and advanced skincare technology, using TheraNaka and Esse products. Signature experiences include the African Fusion Body Massage with marula-herb oils, the Tree of Life Journey inspired by the baobab and Couples Connect, an African treatment using handcrafted “Swarthout” wooden implements.
A custom soundscape by composer Mikhaela Faye, titled Sanctum, adds a sensory dimension to the experience. Recorded on-site at Mombo, it features ambient field sounds such as lion roars, elephant clashes, bird calls and boma drums.
