THE Automobile Association (AA) of South Africa is introducing self-drive tours for international travellers in South Africa, starting with a group of UK travellers last week.
The AA has been working on the project for 18 months says Geoff Elske, divisional manager: travel. The tours are as a result of a reciprocity agreement with UK-based The Camping and Caravanning Club. The escorted tour of South Africa lasts over 32 days and covers major tourist attractions such as the Kruger National park, Rorke’s Drift and Cape Town.
Affiliations with other international automobile clubs will see other groups coming through in the near future including other European states and far east countries such as Japan. Elske adds that New Zealand and Australia are also target countries for the tours.
