Members of South Africa’s tourism industry, Australian government officials and Qantas representatives celebrated the commencement of the national carrier’s direct Perth-Johannesburg flight at a colourful launch event at the Saxon Hotel on Monday, December 8.
Dignitaries included Australian Minister of Trade and Tourism Don Farrell, South Africa’s Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille and South African Tourism Acting CEO Darryl Erasmus.
The new route is expected to significantly bolster arrivals from Australasia, which has been one of South Africa’s fastest-growing source markets post-COVID.
