African Sun Limited is relaunching its Holiday Inn hotels in Harare and Bulawayo. This involves the introduction of the new look InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) franchise hallmarks and signage as well as a product refurbishment of the hotels, including its two Holiday lnns and the Crowne Plaza Monomotapa.
This will be followed by the product refurbishment of the group’s resort hotels, starting with the Victoria Falls properties. The scope of the product refurbishment includes new soft furnishings, operational equipment, linen, furniture, painting and changing all carpets. It also includes essential back-of-house items covering critical fire, life and safety items. The product refurbishment will be ongoing throughout the first half of this year.
At the same time, African Sun has rebranded Holiday Inn Mutare to African Sun Amber Hotel Mutare. African Sun Amber Hotel is a mid-range city brand focussing on business travellers and conference delegates. The Express by Holiday Inn Beitbridge will be rebranded to Beitbridge Express Hotel. This remains a value brand meant for transient guests and conference delegates.
The refurbishment, which includes the relaunch and repositioning, is being carried out courtesy of a $10 million loan facility from Afrexim Bank that was secured in 2011.
