Air France will resume flights between Paris and Nairobi from March, 2018, after an 18-year interval.
This is indicative of a rise in travel demand on routes connecting Kenya’s capital to global cities.
The French carrier, which last served Nairobi in March 2000, will operate three weekly flights, using a Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
Air France said in a notice: “Air France in summer 2018 season plans to resume services to Kenya. From March 25, 2018, Boeing 787-9 aircraft will operate this route three times a week.” Reservations are already open.
Various global airlines have resumed flights to Kenya in recent years. Lufthansa returned after an 18-year hiatus, resuming its direct flight to Nairobi. Air India has also announced plans to relaunch its flights to Nairobi later this year after being absent from the country for seven years.
TUI Netherlands, a Dutch-based charter airline, said last week that it was ready to resume operations to Mombasa in November, after suspending its service three years ago due to security concerns.
