Air Mauritius has announced that it will cancel its night flights between Johannesburg and Mauritius from May 2.
Carla da Silva, Regional Manager Southern African and Latin America says the decision to cancel the night-time services was made after reviewing specific months of the year in terms of forward loads and seasonality, as well as feedback from local trade partners.
“Despite the fact that night flights will be cancelled during low season periods, supplementary night flights will be introduced during peak periods to accommodate the demand,” says Da Silva.
From May 2, flights will depart Mauritius at 09h15, arriving in Johannesburg at 11h45 daily. Flights from Johannesburg will depart at 13h35 arriving in Mauritius at 19h35. Flights will be operated with either A319 or A340 aircraft.
In addition, following the earlier announcement that it would reintroduce scheduled services between Mauritius and Durban, the airline has now confirmed that services are to commence on July 5. Flights will depart Mauritius at 09h00, arriving in Durban at 11h20 on Fridays and Sundays. Flights from Durban will depart at 12h10 on the same days, arriving in Mauritius at 18h00. Flights will be operated with an A319 aircraft.
During peak periods or holiday seasons, the airline will introduce additional capacity to accommodate its partners and, where required, an equipment upgrade can be done for groups.
All daily services operating from Johannesburg will be retained and the Cape Town schedule will also remain unchanged.
