The Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (TGCSA) is conducting a census to verify the status of businesses within the TGCSA membership database.
The census aims to gain a deeper understanding of the extent of product and services currently on offer throughout the tourism value chain and will enable the TGCSA to better support and position sector players for the tourism economy through implementing future-fit business models.
It is aligned to the Tourism Sector Recovery Plan in strengthening the supply side, not only for the recovery effort, but also for the long-term sustainability and resilience of the sector.
All graded tourism businesses and establishments are urged to participate in the study, which is a crucial step to ensure that tourism remains a key economic driver in South Africa.
Amanda Kotze-Nhlapo, Acting Chief Quality Assurance Officer at TGCSA says: “As the local tourism sector looks to fast-track recovery by reigniting and stimulating growth off the back of the ongoing impact of COVID-19, now is the perfect time to conduct a study of this nature.
“This will be our first census and we have partnered with Globant South Africa (Pty) Ltd to verify the status of businesses within the TGCSA database.” The Tourism Grading Council of South Africa invites industry to collaborate and participate “to determine the status of your graded establishment, and further request your input on the COVID-19 Tourism Support Programme”, she says.
