Botswana: New look for Chobe Game Lodge

Botswana’s Chobe Game Lodge has completed the first phase of renovation, with further work scheduled for December.

Chobe Game Lodge, on the Chobe River in Botswana’s Chobe National Park, has completed the first phase of renovations.

Mytie Moutswi, Marketing Assistant, says the classic safari-styled lodge has been revamped to restore its grandeur by keeping the exterior Moorish structure and providing an Arabic-infused facelift to the interior. “We more than tripled the size of the bathrooms, added a very chic Victorian bath tub, spacious walk-in shower and his and hers basins.” According to Moutswi, the new décor has completely transformed the rooms to give them an earthly feel. An extra room has been added to the four luxury private suites, with a standard twin-bed configuration for children. The luxury suites have a lounge, private terrace and plunge pool.

The last phase is expected to start in early December, when the last 10 rooms will be paired to create larger rooms with a lounge area and two bathrooms. “As a result of pairing the rooms, we will be downsizing the room inventory by five rooms, further enhancing the intimacy of the lodge experience,” says Moutswi. “From December 1-17, the lodge will close to complete the last of the rooms.”

Other developments include the construction a new gym and a spa.

Chobe Game Lodge has 47 rooms, comprising 42 standard rooms, four luxury suites and one family unit.
