City Lodge Waterfall City in Midrand, Gauteng, is expected to open towards the end of 2014.
The hotel will be situated at the entrance to the multi-use Waterfall City development, close to the Allandale off-ramp on the N1 freeway and will comprise a ground floor and four upper levels with 150 rooms.
The property is being developed as part of a long term land and building lease agreement with a total development value of around R130 million. City Lodge has again partnered with the developer, Atterbury Property Developments, the group behind the development of City Lodge Lynnwood, which opened in 2010.
The City Lodge Hotel Group has 52 hotels in South Africa, a Town Lodge in Gaborone, Botswana, and a 50% stake in two hotels in Nairobi, Kenya. The group is examining other expansion opportunities in East, West and Southern Africa. It recently announced that it will be developing a 90-room Road Lodge in Pietermaritzburg.
