Urban Hip Hotels has announced the opening of The Highlander Hotel in Dullstroom. This follows the group’s acquisition of Peebles Country Retreat & Spa earlier this year and a multimillion-rand refurbishment project and rebranding.
The newly refurbished hotel is located at the entrance to the village of Dullstroom and occupies one of the highest locations in the town, offering extensive views. The group also took on the management of Critchley Hackle, also in Dullstroom, early last year.
Kobus Botha, Urban Hip Hotels’ Managing Director, said the opportunity to implement a total make over and the renaming of a hotel did not often present itself. “Although we have kept within the original Scottish country theme of the hotel, our guests will, in future, enjoy contemporary design.”
He said the hotel’s new restaurant, Chapter 1, was also launched earlier this month – led by Executive Chef, Jacques van Eck. Botha said future plans included the refurbishment of The Rivendale Spa on the property in June as part of the second phase refurbishment programme.
