Elephant data shows active Sebungwe corridors

In March 2025, a collared elephant from Matusadona National Park was recorded moving through Chete Safari Area, confirming cross-boundary movement in the Sebungwe landscape.

Since collaring began in 2021, the movements of 19 elephant show that all seven protected areas across the Sebungwe Region remain connected through active wildlife corridors despite growing human populations.

The data also indicates that Matusadona and its surrounding landscape now form a link between the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area and the Lower Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area.

The findings position Matusadona as part of a regional conservation network in the Zambezi Valley, highlighting the role of connectivity beyond park boundaries.
