The first ever commercial airliner, operated by Comair, touched down in St Helena on April 18.
Making history as the quickest transit time between Johannesburg and St Helena in 500 years, the flight left South Africa at 08h30 and landed in St Helena five hours later.

Brian Kitchin, Executive Manager of Sales for Comair, has confirmed that the flight was a test flight to ensure that operations are running smoothly, rather than a commercial or launch flight. He told eTNW that, based on this initial assessment of the airport, the airline would prepare an announcement regarding the official launch of flights and when they will go on sale.
