African Parks Network has shared footage from Odzala-Kokoua National Park in the Republic of Congo, highlighting gorilla tracking and habituation work in the park.
The video follows local primatologists and trackers navigating dense forest vegetation while monitoring western lowland gorillas.
African Parks said the habituation process allows researchers to observe gorillas more closely and gradually accustom them to the presence of humans. According to the organisation, this supports ongoing research and enables tourism activities designed to be “meaningful and respectful”.
The footage was filmed by Andrew Macdonald with additional gorilla footage provided by Juliet Adema.
