The majority of respondents to our latest poll would like the SA Tourism Board to be reinstated. This follows the dissolution of the Board by Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille last month.
The poll results show that 61% of respondents would like the Board reinstated, 17% do not believe members should return to their former roles and 22% are unsure.
Are we too dependent on American travellers?
At the recent SATSA Conference, speaking on a panel about regional spread of tourism in South Africa, Helen Bolton, Head of Sales at New Frontiers Tours, warned that the industry has become too reliant on the US market. “It was the first to come back strongly after COVID but we’ve neglected traditional UK and European markets. There’s a danger in that.”
