The Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC) – in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture – has launched a national accreditation programme aimed at boosting quality standards and global competitiveness among tourism operators.
The programme introduces a certification system designed to evaluate and verify the quality and professionalism of service providers within key tourism sub-sectors including tour guiding, tour operations, hiking clubs and event organisers.
According to the LTDC, the accreditation will offer certified businesses access to structured frameworks for service evaluation and improvement. It is also expected to improve the credibility of local tourism businesses, build tourist confidence and facilitate market access.
“The accreditation programme is a game changer for Lesotho’s tourism industry. It signals to the world that our country is committed to quality, safety and service excellence,” said Mamello Morojele, Acting CEO of the LTDC.
Makhetha Motšoari, Chairperson of the Lesotho Council for Tourism, encouraged operators to get involved: “We warmly invite tour operators, tour guides, event organisers and hiking clubs to be part of this meaningful journey towards transformation and quality assurance.”
