Few & Far Luvhondo in the Soutpansberg Mountains of South Africa’s Limpopo province has launched a campaign, “Nature Has No Price Tag”, which invites travellers to stay without a fixed nightly rate. Instead, guests pay what they can.
In a statement announcing the campaign, Few & Far Luvhondo said: “In a time of rising global uncertainty, where every dollar spent carries weight and intention, how we choose to travel has never mattered more. With over half of Americans skipping summer vacations and affordability cited as the leading obstacle, the privilege of meaningful escape is slipping further out of reach. But what if disconnecting could also be a conscious act of connection – one that honours the planet, your values and your wallet?”
How it works
The lodge says the “pay what you can” model isn’t about lowering standards but about reframing luxury as trust, generosity and shared purposed. To participate, travellers complete a brief, mobile-friendly application outlining preferred dates, number of guests, what draws them to the property and what they’re able to contribute financially.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and accepted guests receive the full eco-lodge experience.
“Travel isn’t a frivolous indulgence – it’s a vital act of connection,” says Sarah Dusek, Co-founder of Few & Far Luvhondo. “It nurtures our well-being, strengthens global empathy and fuels the preservation of our planet. We launched this initiative with the belief that, when you truly experience a place, you begin to care – and when you care, you naturally want to give back. By removing cost as a barrier, we’re making transformative, purpose-led travel more accessible without diluting its impact. Today, true luxury isn’t just comfort or exclusivity – it’s a conscious choice. It’s choosing responsibility, choosing connection and choosing to leave the world better than you found it.”
