Lilongwe-based Swift Air has ceased operations, reports Malawi’s Zodiak Online.
According to the report, operations were halted after sheriffs impounded the company’s property in Lilongwe for unpaid debt, believed to be in the region of millions of kwacha, owed to its landlord, Airport Development Limited, Air Malawi and independent travel agents.
Swift Air Chief Executive Officer, Louise Hanne, could reportedly not be reached for comment.
Swift Air launched services from Lilongwe to Karonga in April last year and launched flights to Johannesburg in February. The airline also flies to Blantyre and Mzuzu.
