Monday smile: Five-year old becomes honorary flight attendant

Given the chance to wish for anything in the world, this little boy chose to honour the work of flight attendants everywhere.

At the tender age of five, Stephen ‘SJ’ Awwad became an honorary Allegiant flight attendant, and may be youngest in the world.

SJ was born with 10 congenital heart defects and may require a heart transplant one day. When he was approached by the Make-A-Wish foundation, he expressed his love for anything to do with flying.

The young boy wished to spend a week with his family at Walt Disney World Resort with the bonus uncommon request of assisting the flight crew by passing out snack-packs of pretzels en-route.

The passengers were pleasantly surprised to see SJ serving snacks on a flight from Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Orlando, Florida, on Monday, October 14.

He was named an honorary Allegiant flight attendant and received a kid-sized version of the crew’s official uniform. His very own customised wings pin will serve as a reminder for the rest of his life, that dreams do come true.
