The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) will implement revised tariffs for the 2025/26 financial year across its provincial nature reserves from December 12.
A 15% increase will apply to foreign nationals with a 7% increase for South African and SADC nationals. According to the MTPA, tariffs have historically been priced lower than comparable entities and the adjustments reflect the need to align more closely with operational costs and ongoing infrastructure investment.
Key adjustments include the Blyde River Canyon “all access ticket”: a one-day access ticket to all MTPA viewpoints on the Panorama Route, priced at R161 (US$9.32) for South African citizens, R203 (US$11.75) for SADC visitors and R385 (US$22.28) for foreign nationals.
The MTPA said it will introduce new tourism activities and experiences at its nature reserves while ensuring facilities remain adequately maintained.
The agency noted that the MTPA Act of 2005 obliges it to generate its own revenue to provide and maintain tourism infrastructure, supporting efforts to deliver improved value and visitor experience across the province.
