Wilderness Safaris has added a star bed that overlooks a watering hole to its Linkwasha camp in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe.
“Linkwasha’s new star bed is positioned right in the middle of the action, where the animals come to drink at Scott’s Pan and is a wonderful addition to our Hwange offering. In the dry season, the magical elephant experience will be taking place all night long, in front of and all around the star bed – offering a life-changing experience for our guests who want an authentic wildlife adventure,” said Wilderness Safaris Zimbabwe MD, Ron Goatley.
The new star bed is a short drive from Linkwasha camp, and is built on a raised platform. All the bedding and comforts are set up for guests requesting a sleep-out. A mosquito net surrounds the bed and basic ablution facilities are available nearby. Accompanying the guests will be a highly qualified guide, who sleeps within close distance, on standby to assist guests during the night if necessary.
Wilderness Safaris features star beds at a number of its other camps. In Zimbabwe, there is a star bed at Ruckomechi camp in Mana Pools National Park, as well as a platform at Hwange’s Madison Pan, which is a 20-minute drive away from Little Makalolo. In Botswana, star beds are offered at Abu, Jao, Little Tubu and Tubu Tree camps in the Okavango Delta, and at Duma Tau and Savuti camps in the Linyanti. At Kalahari Plains camp there is a sleep-out area on the roof of each of the 10 canvas units.
