BUSHTRACKS Africa has launched a new division. Victoria Falls Steam Railways has been established to offer steam train excursions to Sun International clients and guests from the surrounding area.
As part of the initiative, Rovos Rail has agreed to restore some historic coaches on behalf of Bushtracks and the rehabilitation programme is due to be completed by the end of September.
The aim of the steam train service is to provide the “most romantic and historical five-star dining experience within the region,” says Bushtracks sales and marketing manager, Christopher Tett. The journey begins in Livingstone through the Mosi-ao-Tunya National Park, and continues along one of the most historic railway lines in Africa to a viewing point above the Zambezi River. Passengers can disembark to enjoy traditional entertainment while viewing the sunset over the river. Dinner will be served on the train.
