O&L Leisure has successfully completed the acquisition of two Namibian lodges, Le Mirage Resort & Spa in Sossusvlei and Divava Okavango Lodge & Spa in the Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip).
The acquisitions form part of the O&L Group Vision 2029 and expand the company’s portfolio to six Namibian destinations.
Situated around 20km from Sesriem Gate – the primary access point to Sossusvlei – Le Mirage offers 27 luxury rooms. Divava features 20 luxury chalets on the banks of the Okavango River, 2km from Popa Falls. “This acquisition complements our efforts to showcase Namibia with the addition of the Popa Falls as well as the Sossusvlei environment,” said Sven Thieme, MD of O&L Leisure.
Thieme said all eligible employees had been offered positions at the lodges as part of the transition. Leadership at both properties will remain unchanged. William Danster retains his role as GM at Le Mirage and Karel Urjon continues as GM at Divava.
“O&L Leisure’s commitment to job retention transforms what could have been an uncertain transition into a celebration of continuity and growth,” said Thieme.
He said the acquisition supported Namibia’s broader tourism strategy, which prioritised job creation in rural areas and economic empowerment through small and medium-sized enterprises, communal conservancies and rural tourism initiatives.
