A ONE-STOP border post between Mpumalanga and Mozambique will be operational by mid-2009, according to Maputo Corridor Logistics Initiative (MCLI) coo, Barbara Mommen.
It will cost around R600m to build and comprise separate facilities to process passengers, rail and commercial cargo traffic. Mommen said the implementation of the 24-hour joint one-stop border post in 2009 would go a long way towards addressing infrastructure, processing and congestion constraints.
However customs documentation and processes would need to be harmonised before the one-stop border post could open, she said.
