Tintswalo Summer House appoints management team
Tintswalo Summer House in Glencairn, Cape Town, has appointed a new management team with all three positions filled through internal promotions within the Tintswalo Collection.
The property is led by joint General Managers Leanne Ferreira and Jabu Ngwenya with Thando Jaxa as Head Chef of Summer House Eatery.
Ngwenya joined Tintswalo Atlantic as Guest Services Manager 18 years ago before spending three years in Bahrain as Head Butler at The Domain Hotel. He returned to Tintswalo Atlantic in 2016, progressing through roles including Operations Manager and Group Sommelier.
In 2020, he led Tintswalo’s Deep South Supply Wine Shop and Restaurant at the Glencairn property, which has since been redeveloped as Tintswalo Summer House. He was appointed General Manager of Deep South Eatery in 2021 and became joint General Manager of Tintswalo Summer House when it opened in April 2026.
Ferreira joined Tintswalo Atlantic as Deputy General Manager in 2023 when she returned to South Africa from the UK where she began her hospitality career in a range of corporate roles, including hospitality and events positions.
Jaxa began his career in 2000 in the scullery of the Southern Sun Cullinan Hotel before progressing through roles including Commis Chef, Chef de Partie and Sous Chef within the Southern Sun Hotel Group.
He joined Tintswalo Atlantic as Senior Sous Chef in 2017, moving into the fine-dining sector. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he catered for private functions and operated a takeaway business with his wife.
In 2021, Jaxa joined Life and Brand as Brand Chef, overseeing five kitchens, before returning to Tintswalo a year later to lead the kitchen at Deep South Eatery, now operating as Summer House Eatery.
