Hemingways Collection announces senior appointments

Hemingways Collection has made three senior appointments across its properties in Kenya and Rwanda.

Longa Mulikelela, Hemingways Collection Cluster General Manager: Hemingways Nairobi and Hemingways Eden Residence

Longa Mulikelela has been appointed Cluster General Manager for Hemingways Nairobi and Hemingways Eden Residence. With over 15 years’ experience across Anantara, Avani, Mantis and Protea Hotels by Marriott in Zambia, Rwanda and the wider region, his background spans hotel operations, rooms, food and beverage, and luxury property openings. He will oversee operations, service standards and guest experience across the Nairobi portfolio.

Theunie Marais, Hemingways Watamu General Manager

Theunie Marais has been appointed General Manager of Hemingways Watamu. Marais has nearly two decades of luxury hospitality experience with Newmark Hotels & Reserves, One&Only Gorilla’s Nest, Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa, Queen Victoria Hotel and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. His expertise spans operations management, guest experience and dining concept development.

Richard Kimenyi, Hemingways Retreat Kigali Country Manager

Richard Kimenyi has been appointed Country Manager at Hemingways Retreat Kigali. Kimenyi brings more than 40 years’ experience in luxury hospitality, including eight years as General Manager of Hemingways Nairobi and Hemingways Eden Residence, and previous executive roles at Fairmont and the Kenya Tourism Board. He will lead operations, growth and brand alignment at the Kigali property.

Johannesburg Tourism Company appoints new executive

The Johannesburg Tourism Company has appointed Rendani Khorombi as Executive Head: Tourism Strategic Services, effective October 1.

Khorombi has 17 years’ experience in the sector, most recently serving as Senior Manager: Convention and Visitor Services Bureau. His background includes business events, visitor services, tourism development and destination positioning.

“Rendani’s appointment marks a significant milestone in our journey to elevate Johannesburg as a globally competitive destination,” said Johannesburg Tourism Company CEO Thandubuhle Mgudlwa. “With extensive experience in MICE, visitor services and tourism development, Rendani’s deep institutional knowledge, strategic foresight and unwavering commitment to excellence make him an ideal leader to steer our tourism strategy into the future.”

Khorombi holds a BA in tourism development from the University of Johannesburg and senior leadership qualifications from Wits and the University of Cape Town.

“I am deeply honoured to take on the role of Executive Head: Tourism Strategic Services,” Khorombi said. “I look forward to working with our stakeholders to position our city as a leading global destination for leisure and business travel.”

His portfolio includes MICE, visitor information services and tourism development.
