Africa’s Travel Indaba 2026, which took past last week, appears to have struggled to confirm attendance by Tourism Update readers, according to the results of our latest poll.
More than half of respondents (61%) said they opted to skip the event. Of those who attended Indaba, 19% said it was “worse than last year” while 14% felt it was “about the same”. Only 6% described it as better than the 2025 edition.
Are travellers rerouting to get to Africa?
Despite ongoing conflict in the Middle East, most Gulf carriers have resumed major routes with adjusted schedules and frequencies. We would like to know whether travellers are still comfortable transiting through the Gulf to reach destinations in Africa or whether they are choosing direct flights and alternative routings instead.
