In line with its ambitions to turn its focus towards East Africa, RwandAir has published a new route map that includes plans to operate flights between Kigali and Mombasa, Zanzibar, Maputo and Luanda.
Due to unresolved political tensions with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), RwandAir was forced to suspend three of its West African routes, as reported by Travel News.
RwandAir’s Chief Executive, Yvonne Makolo, explained that the airline’s expansion into East Africa is part of efforts to offset the losses incurred following the DRC’s decision to close its airspace to all aircraft from Kigali.
The airline has not yet published start dates or schedules for the new routes.
