The sale of The Westin Cape Town and The Arabella Hotel & Spa has been concluded.
Transfer to the purchaser, Hospitality Property Fund, took place on May 13.
Currently under management by Arabella Starwood Hotels South Africa, The Westin Cape Town, situated adjacent to the Cape Town International Convention Centre, will now be managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., owners of the international Westin Brand.
Says Friedrich Schaefer, COO of Starwood South Africa: “The change in ownership of The Westin Cape Town will have no effect on clients, suppliers or hotel guests whatsoever. The hotel, which has been part of the Starwood network for the past eight years, will continue to deliver the same service excellence and superior five-star accommodation and facilities.”
The five-star Arabella Hotel & Spa near Hermanus has joined luxury hospitality brand, African Pride Hotels.
Hotel owner, the Hospitality Property Fund, has appointed the Protea Hospitality Group to manage and market the property African Pride Hotels brand.
Says Danny Bryer, Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue for the Protea Hospitality Group: “The Protea Hospitality Group will continue to grow market share at the expense of newer entrants to the market in South Africa precisely because our approach is borne of more than 25 years of experience, meaning we know how to operate and market hotels profitably for owners.”
The 18-hole, par-72 Peter Matkovich Championship Arabella Golf Course is regarded as one of the top five courses in South Africa. The property also offers guests a variety of conferencing facilities with five boardrooms and up-to-date audio-visual equipment.
The addition of Arabella Hotel & Spa brings to 18 in three countries the number of hotels, lodges and country houses falling under the banner of African Pride Hotels.
