Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) will require the completion of indemnity forms at all park gates from February 10 as part of updated SANParks governance and entry procedures.
SANParks is in the process of implementing an ID scanning system for South African residents to enable secure visitor data collection and verification for discounted entry. While the system is being phased in, indemnity forms will be used to ensure compliance. SANParks said, once fully implemented, the scanning system may result in slight delays at park gates.
The following requirements will apply:
- All visitors must complete an indemnity form.
- Groups must complete one form per group or vehicle.
- International visitors do not need to present passports at the gate but passport numbers must be recorded on the form.
- SADC visitors and visitors holding long-term visas must complete an indemnity form.
- South African residents must present valid proof of identity to qualify for discounted entry.
- Local visitors must include their South African ID numbers.
- The requirement also applies to tour operators, tour guides and drivers.
- Visitors are encouraged to print and complete the form in advance and present it on arrival.
- Forms will also be available at park gates.
The requirement applies at the Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Penguin Colony, Newlands Forest, Oudekraal, Silvermine and Tokai picnic sites. The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens are excluded from the process.
