Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp in Kenya has received a gold eco-rating.
The certification was awarded by Ecotourism Kenya, which recognises facilities that have achieved superior and replicable levels of excellence in environmental management, conservation, waste management, resource management, health and safety and social cultural criteria.
On-site eco-rating assessments are done to certify the camp’s compliance with ecotourism principles and practices. Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp is the second Serena property after Sweetwaters Serena Camp and the 18th property in Kenya to attain the gold certification since the programme began in 2002.
