Shift towards serving AI search platforms

A healthy proportion of respondents to our latest poll say they have started to shift their digital marketing strategies to cater to the rise of AI-driven search platforms. Our poll followed concerns raised by Rhino Africa CEO David Ryan about the tendencies of AI search results to exclude smaller tour operators, lodges and destinations.

When asked if they had started shifting from traditional digital marketing to growing visibility on AI platforms, 42% of readers responded “Yes”. However, the majority (58%) still rely on traditional digital marketing methods.

Should the dissolved SA Tourism Board be reinstated?

Last week, the former Board of SA Tourism, controversially dissolved by Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille in August, filed an urgent application with the Gauteng High Court to have the decision reversed. Industry associations, parliamentarians and civil society organisations have placed additional pressure on De Lille to reinstate the Board, flagging potential political interference and contraventions of good governance principles.
