Zimbabwe-born Springbok prop Tendai ‘the Beast’ Mtawarira has been named Tourism Ambassador for destination Zimbabwe.

Mtawarira was given the honour at a Harare hotel by the Minister of Environment, Tourism & Hospitality Industry, Priscah Mupfumira.

Mupfumira applauded Mtawarira for his grounded nature despite his global fame, together with dedication to Zimbabwe through his philanthropic work, which led to his appointment.

“Although I represent South Africa on the big stage, I have never forgotten my roots. To be an ambassador for tourism is going to come easy to me because I have always marketed Zimbabwe to all the people I come across all over the world,” said Mtawarira.

“I am excited to be a part of this team and am prepared to give my 110% because this is truly an honour for me.”
