Thebe Special Projects, Conferences and Events has been appointed by South African Tourism to manage the South African pavilion at FITUR 2013.
FITUR, the third-largest annual tourism trade fair in Europe, takes place in Madrid from January 30 to February 3.
Carol Weaving, Managing Director of Thebe Exhibitions and Projects, said the appointment was a natural extension of the group’s long history in the tourism industry.
“The Spanish and Latin American markets are increasingly important for tourism to South Africa and we intend to grow the FITUR pavilion both in size and impact. South Africa received huge media exposure in the Spanish market during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and it will be wise to capitalise on that momentum,” said Weaving.
FITUR 2012 was attended by 209 260 tourism professionals from all over the world and 7 726 journalists from 59 countries.
