The African Travel and Tourism Association (ATTA) welcomes Storm Napier, who joins the team as Marketing and Communications Director based primarily out of Cape Town.
Napier has been involved in the promotion of African tourism since 2005. With a career that spans various aspects of the industry, including guiding, tour operation, event organisation, virtual tradeshows and marketing of both tourism boards and properties.
With nearly 20 years’ experience, she has built valuable, trusted and longstanding relationships on multiple levels across the African continent and key international source markets.
Throughout the pandemic, ATTA not only focused on industry lobbying but also looked at increasing value to the membership. With both of these in mind, the association is excited about the additional knowledge and passion that Napier brings with her.
Chris Mears, ATTA Executive Director and Experience Africa MD commented: “It’s exciting to be growing the ATTA HQ footprint into Africa. Storm will be a fantastic addition to the small UK-based team and I look forward to having someone on the ground to drive membership engagement, opportunities and growth. With a diverse skillset and depth of understanding of the overall industry I’m delighted to be welcoming Storm to the team as we move forward into more positive and productive trading conditions.”

She will be continuing to work with her clients under her own Atmosphere Marketing brand and also running the OurAfrica.Travel trade show.

The Small Tourism Enterprise Association (STEA) has announced Percy Koji’s departure as CEO of the organisation with immediate effect.
“Percy played a great role in the establishment of the organisation, and while we will miss him, we wish him the best of luck in his new endeavour. We would like to thank him for his contribution and time dedicated to STEA,” said STEA Chair, Jabu Matsilele.
Sonto Mbonambi will step into Koji’s shoes as the new CEO of STEA. Mbonambi is a Co-Founder of the association and has served as a Board Member of STEA for the past year.
Matsilele noted that her appointment would maintain continuity and momentum to drive the objectives of STEA. Mbonambi has 14 years of experience within the tourism industry.
Prior to joining the tourism sector, she worked at executive senior levels for both private and public sectors. “She brings a wealth of experience and passion in working with the smaller enterprises and is ready to hit the ground running. I am excited to have someone at the helm who understands and is passionate about the STEA’s mission to help stimulate inclusive economic growth within tourism by giving small businesses a voice while facilitating equitable access to opportunities and resources in a sustainable way,” said Matsilele.
