With women making up nearly 70% of the workforce in the tourism industry, the number is set to shoot up as the private and public sectors collaborate on programmes to drive this growth.
The contribution of women in this important industry is an element that needs to be acknowledged and celebrated. Their standing needs to be uplifted to not only participate in the low rungs of the industry, but to take decision-making positions in numbers as well.
Join Sisa Ntshona, South African Tourism CEO; Judy Nwokedi, Chief Operations Officer of Tourvest; and Morongoe Ramphele, DDG at the National Department of Tourism, as we celebrate and honour the achievements and contributions of women in the industry, as well as share the programmes and campaigns that aim to increase the proportion of women in leadership and executive positions.
The conversation will also give impetus to the Women in Tourism campaign (30in5) looking to achieve the target of 30% female representation in executive management and board directorship positions by 2022.
The webinar, hosted by SA Tourism and Tourism Update, will take place on Thursday, August 31 at 12h00 (SA time).
