WTM Africa to host first Chinese outbound workshop

World Travel Market (WTM) Africa has announced its first-ever China Ready Workshop in partnership with China Business Intelligence Service Network. The session will take place on April 15 next year from 08h00-10h00 in the WTM Inspire Theatre at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

China Ready is the world’s leading Chinese tourism preparation programme implemented since 2002 across 54 countries and six continents.

“With China’s outbound travel sector projected to reach 200 million travellers annually by 2028, the intensive workshop comes at a crucial time for African tourism stakeholders,” said Reanté Naidoo, Buyer and Digital Director at RX Africa.

“Participants will receive expert guidance on everything from understanding Chinese visitors’ needs and preferences to marketing and promotion dos and don’ts, the power of social media, preferred digital payments and cultural expectations, enabling them to create more appealing experiences for Chinese visitors,” Naidoo added.

The programme will be rolled out in stages over the next three years:

  • 2026: Knowledge module (demographics, culture, customs and business protocol)
  • 2027: Marketing to China
  • 2028: Branding and positioning for China

The phased approach allows participants to accumulate continuing professional development (CPD) credits while engaging with practical insights into consumer behaviour and industry trends.

All attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the China Outbound Travel Market – Africa Report 2025, CPD points and access to the WTM Africa show floor.

Registration opens on September 22 and is limited to 50 seats. Only registered WTM Africa delegates may book.
