1Time to fly to Zanzibar

1TIME has just received rights to fly to Zanzibar.

The carrier will launch two frequencies a week between Johannesburg and Zanzibar early next year.

Glenn Orsmond, the airline's ceo could not say exactly when the flights would be launched as 1Time is still waiting on permit approval from the Tanzanian authorities which it expects to receive within a month.

It's the first African rights for 1Time. Orsmond says it's tough to get rights to fly into Africa. “Those get reserved for SAA so you try and apply as and when routes become available. They need to free the skies.”
