FOLLOWING his appointment as acting president of the Federation of Namibian Tourism Associations (FENATA) in September this year after Udo Weck resigned as president, Dieter Glaue has announced that he, too, will be bowing out, prompting the association to call the Namibian tourism industry to action.
FENATA has indicated that it was time to appoint a full-time, salaried chief executive officer if the organisation was to continue playing an important role in the future of Namibia's tourism industry.
To this end a committee, headed by Uwe Kessler of the Car Rental Association of Namiba (CRAN), has been formed to research the possibilities and implications of the appointment of a ceo.
The committee will report back on its findings within the first week of December.
One of the controversies surrounding the appointment of a salaried office bearer is that FENATA's member associations will carry the cost of the salary, which means an increase in membership fees.
