Botanical art and safari experience introduced in CT

Wilderness Touring Cape Town has launched a new full-day Botanical Art & Safari excursion to Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, combining a 4x4 flower safari with a guided visit to the Hannarie Wenhold Botanical Art Gallery.

“This new full-day tour allows our guests to explore one of the most biologically diverse floral regions on Earth in a private and immersive setting,” said Brendan McCarthy, Wilderness Touring Cape Town Operations and Product Manager. “Through our partnership with Grootbos, we’re proud to offer something truly distinctive, a journey that blends scientific insight with artistic beauty, connecting travellers to the deep ecological story of the Cape Floral Kingdom.”

The Cape Floral Kingdom is home to more than 922 species of fynbos. The Grootbos Florilegium, housed in the Hannarie Wenhold Botanical Art Gallery, is one of only five botanical art galleries in the world and has gained international recognition for its detailed documentation of species unique to the region.

The tour includes:

  • 4x4 flower safari at Grootbos
  • Guided visit to the Hannarie Wenhold Botanical Art Gallery
  • Lunch at Grootbos
  • Insights into fynbos conservation and botanical art
  • Private Wilderness guide, vehicle, snacks, mineral water and in-vehicle Wi-Fi

The route passes through the Elgin and Hemel en Aarde wine regions and along the Whale Coast where southern right whales can be seen during their migration from June to November.

“We’re proud to be among the first luxury operators to present this experience in such a carefully curated format. It’s ideally suited to travellers seeking unique, off-the-beaten-path adventures to complement their safari or South African stay. It also offers locals an enriching and distinctive way to explore their own backyard or makes for a truly special gift experience,” McCarthy said.
