ECOTUR Safaris, operating out of Angola, has launched a three-day tour from Luanda from May 23 to 25 priced at US$895pp.
The tour includes transport in fully equipped air-conditioned 4x4 vehicles with English- and Portuguese-speaking driver guides, refreshments during car game drives, accommodation and meals, park fees and tolls.
Over three days, travellers will be taken past Dondo where they will stop for a visit at the Pousada de Cambambe. Next stop is the garden capital city of Kwanza Norte province, N´dalatando, where visitors will enjoy a city tour followed by a picnic in the Botanical Gardens. The trip will then head to Malange via Lucala and Cacuso, and then on to Kalandula Falls and the Quéssua Mission.
At the falls, visitors will enjoy a picnic and also the opportunity to bathe in the waters and take photographs. For the more energetic, EcoTur can take a group into the valley at the bottom of the falls. It takes about 40 minutes to reach and tough walking shoes or boots are required as it is a very steep climb and can be muddy. Extreme caution is required.
A short Malange city tour is included in the itinerary as is a quick visit to the ‘Casa do Gaiato’ where travellers should see the preparation of morning mass and hear the locals singing their prayers in Kimbundu language in the small chapel. Next stop is Pungo Andongo (Pedras Negras, or Black Rocks) via Cacuso, where visitors will also be able to see the famous footprint of Rainha N’Ginga as well as climbing one of the main rocks for a spectacular view of the surrounding countryside, including Capanda Dam.
