The Royal Portfolio’s Malewane Lodge in Greater Kruger has undergone extensive refurbishment. The lodge accommodates up to 20 guests across six Luxury Suites and two Royal Suites with interiors designed by Liz Biden.
Each of the two-bedroom Royal Suites has been redesigned to include a private courtyard entrance, large Moroccan-style wooden entrance doors and a fresh layout that improves flow and privacy. The service kitchen has been moved to the back-of-house area, to reduce visibility and noise, and a guide’s room has been added. Guests staying in the Royal Suites have access to a dedicated chef, host, field guide and tracker with a private safari vehicle. Other enhancements include central fireplaces, a new guest bathroom adjacent to the lounge area, underfloor heating in the bedrooms and bathrooms and an upgraded daybed and outdoor shower.
The one-bedroom Luxury Suites each have a new entrance hall with upgraded outdoor decks and daybeds and retiled and heated swimming pools.
The main lodge has also undergone several updates including a larger boutique, redesigned bar and observation lounge with stackable glass doors, opening to the bush and the nearby waterhole, repositioned firepit and new coffee and juice bar.
The Royal Waters Spa has been redesigned with a sauna and cold plunge pool. The fitness centre also has a new layout and equipment.
Complementing the lodge refurbishment, an arrival pavilion has been constructed at the Royal Malewane Airstrip.
Matt Biden, CEO of The Royal Portfolio, said: “As Malewane Lodge enters an exciting new chapter, we have undertaken a thoughtful refurbishment that honours its remarkable heritage while reimagining the lodge for the future. We have sought to preserve the unmistakable classic safari style and relaxed atmosphere our guests have loved for more than 25 years while introducing the refined comforts and modern amenities today’s travellers expect.”
