Several Malawi lodges have detailed plans for improvements in 2026, including the addition of 21 luxury family suites at Makokola Retreat on the shores of Lake Malawi.
In addition to the new suites, the lodge is renovating its swimming pool and revamping its coffee lounge.
Other lodges undergoing enhancement include:
- Kaya Mawa (Likoma Island) with a new air-conditioning system and an electric dhow for water-based activities
- Butterfly Space (Nkhata Bay) with a new family self-catering chalet, improved reception facilities and an integrated agro-ecology learning farm and innovation hub
- Makuzi Beach Lodge (Chintheche) with expanded spice tours and immersive cooking experiences
