Malawi operators enhance offerings in 2026

Malawi Tourism has released a round-up of the expansion plans and product enhancements lined up for some of the country’s tourism operators this year.

Land & Lake Safaris

Lake & Land Safaris, which runs a variety of guided and self-drive tours throughout the country, has introduced new gap year and “bucket list” travel tours and revamped its popular women-only tours to include more cultural and community experiences.

A refurbished chalet will be opened at the company’s Dzalanyama Forest Lodge near Lilongwe. This follows a busy 2025 with the launch of guided diving tours on Lake Malawi and bar and kitchen upgrades at The Land & Lake Café in Lilongwe.

1-2 Travel Africa

The company is strengthening its marketing investment in European media and will also open a new boardroom at Africa House to meet growing demand for private meeting spaces. Hands-on wildlife conservation courses for international participants will be introduced at Kuti Wildlife Reserve, east of Lilongwe, from April.

Orbis DMC

Following the signing of partnership agreements with German travel agencies last year, Orbis DMC will purchase a new bus for group travel. The company is also launching more women-focused group trips.

Crafted Africa

The company marked several milestones in 2025, including the opening of a new guest house in Lilongwe and investment in a new fleet of vehicles equipped with long-range fuel tanks.

It also launched the Crafted Africa Foundation, which will support local communities and conservation initiatives in 2026.

The opening of new rooms at Mvuu Lodge in Liwonde National Park and the relaunch of Mufasa Yacht for private charters on Lake Malawi are other exciting developments for the company.

Africa Wild Truck

Adventure-focused operator Africa Wild Truck is aiming to introduce new itineraries for the year while strengthening its operational capacity with the opening of a new office for logistics and reservations.

SS Rent A Car

Due to increased demand for 4x4s among self-drive tourists, SS Rent A Car will expand its fleet with Suzuki Jimnys and seven- and ten-seat vehicles.
