Monday Smile: Man finds fame for getting lost in Iceland

Who knew using a GPS on vacation could land you 360kms from your intended destination? Noel Santillan, a 28-year man from New jersey, definitely did not.

Noel was driving from Keflavík International Airport toward a hotel in Reykjavík, about 40 minutes away when he misspelled the name of the town he was heading to on his GPS.

As he was heading to his destination, he noticed that the trip was longer than expected and the road seemed sketchy.

He supressed his concerns and followed the GPS blindly. When he finally arrived at a hotel, the lady at reception told him that the address on his reservation printout was spelled incorrectly. Instead of spelling it, Laugarvegur, the hotel spelled it with an extra “r”.

Noel ended up checking-in to the hotel to stay the night.

The receptionist posted the story about Noel on her Facebook page and it ended up making its rounds on social media.  When he woke up the next morning, the entire town knew about his mishap and instantly became famous.
