New Congolese airline to take to the skies

A NEW Congolese airline, airDC, is to start commercial flights at the beginning of next year.

AirDC is owned by Hewa Bora Airways, which holds 51% of the shares, and Brussels Airlines' Mauritius subsidy, Pan African Airlines, which holds the remaining 49%.

The new airline will be based at Kinshasa N'Djili airport and offer domestic and regional flights. In co-operation with Brussels Airlines it will also offer a link to Europe.

The airline said that more information about destinations and frequencies would be made available soon, but the necessary preparations were currently under way. The exact launch date of airDC's flight operations will be set once all the maintenance facilities at N'Djili airport are set up.
