Bisate Lodge, opening in June and marking Wilderness Safaris’ first ecotourism venture in Rwanda, will offer holistic health and wellness experience, as well as a fine dining experience all rooted in Rwandan traditions.
The massage is a local full-body, deep-tissue massage, makes use of different-sized wooden sticks.
Yoga equipment and an in-villa gym will also be on offer at the lodge.
GM of Bisate Lodge, Ingrid Baas explains the cultural significance of these yellowwood rods saying: “Symbolically, they represent wisdom and direction to the traditional healer, who uses the energy of the earth as a valuable tool. A special blend of orange, geranium, lemon and lemongrass essential oils is also used as part of the very cosy and warm in-villa massage offering. With the massage bed placed in front of the fireplace, candles and essence will be added to create the right ambience for true relaxation”.
Bisate’s fine dining experience will fuse local Rwandan flavours with contemporary international dishes.
Bisate’s Food and Beverage Manager, Benjamin Nskekuye said: “In keeping with the light ecological footprint adopted by all aspects of our operations and to ensure our continued support of the community, we will be sourcing most of our fresh produce from our very own kitchen garden and from neighbouring farms, all situated within a five-kilometre radius of the lodge.”
Gato Keza coffee tastings will also be on offer for guests, a local Rwandan coffee sourced from the local Kigufi Coffee Estate.
Guests may experience interactive dining, with the lodge’s resident Rwandan chefs, experiencing local dishes. Bisate nursery is a short walk away, where guests may enjoy al fresco lunches, harvesting their own ingredients to use in their meal.
